سُمِّيَتْ ساعةً فخذ نُطْقَ فيها

إنها الساعة التي أنت فيها

إنها الساعة التي أنت فيها

It was called an Hour; so heed these words about it:

Indeed, it is the Hour in which you are.

قال عنها ترونها دون تأتي

قال عنها ترونها دون تأتي

فتأمل لأنه مبديها

فتأمل لأنه مبديها

He said of it, “You see it,” rather than “it comes”;

So reflect, for He is the one who reveals it.

والسموات قال مطويات

والسموات قال مطويات

بيمين له أيا مقتفيها

بيمين له أيا مقتفيها

And the heavens, He said, are folded up

In His right hand, O you who follow its trail.

وحقيق قيامها بك فاكشف

وحقيق قيامها بك فاكشف

سورة الإنشقاق كشفاً نزيها

سورة الإنشقاق كشفاً نزيها

And its arising through you is certain; so unveil

The surah Al-Inshiqaq with a pure unveiling;

وكذا الإنفطار مع سورة التك

وكذا الإنفطار مع سورة التك

وير واترك لبساً ودع تمويها

وير واترك لبساً ودع تمويها

And likewise Al-Infitar, with the surah At-Takwir;

And abandon confusion, and leave deception.

ثم عنها بأنها ثَقُلَتْ قا

ثم عنها بأنها ثَقُلَتْ قا

ل لإظهار نشأة تقتضيها

ل لإظهار نشأة تقتضيها

Then He said of it that it “weighed heavily,”

To reveal a mode of being that it requires.

فهي حق وكل ما ليس منها

فهي حق وكل ما ليس منها

فمحال مشوه تشويها

فمحال مشوه تشويها

For it is real, and all that is not of it

Is impossible, utterly disfigured.

من يرم كشفها يكن مستقيماً

من يرم كشفها يكن مستقيماً

ولينزه إلهه تنزيها

ولينزه إلهه تنزيها

Whoever seeks to unveil it, let him be upright,

And let him affirm his God's utter transcendence.

وليمت إن أول الأمر موت

وليمت إن أول الأمر موت

ثم قبر في تربة يحويها

ثم قبر في تربة يحويها

And let him die: indeed, the matter begins with death;

Then a grave in soil that he encompasses;

وسؤال من روحه وبطون

وسؤال من روحه وبطون

من ظهور أسراره يخفيها

من ظهور أسراره يخفيها

And questioning from his spirit, and concealment

From the manifestation of his secrets, which he hides.

ثم من بعده ظهور عظيم

ثم من بعده ظهور عظيم

واسمه ساعة لمن يعنيها

واسمه ساعة لمن يعنيها

Then, after it, a mighty manifestation,

And its name is “Hour,” for whoever has it in mind.

فتحقق ما قد بثثتك وافهم

فتحقق ما قد بثثتك وافهم

فالمعاني يجل من يدريها

فالمعاني يجل من يدريها

So grasp the truth of what I have imparted to you, and understand:

For exalted is the one who knows these meanings.
