Is it your suns, O Salma, that rise over us,

    or the lofty, abundant blessings?

Her cloaks are the worlds: at times they reveal,

and at others conceal, while meanings emerge.

  3. تجلت فأفنتنا فكنا ولم تكن

because of it, whoever praises to excess falls further short.

  7. ورحمتها عمت وخصت وخصصت

I make pilgrimage to her at every moment, and my soul

is Wadi al-Aqiq and Rabigh to her Kaaba.

so my eye finds joy in her, and I do not stray.

  12. وإن حجبتني عن سناها فإنني

A marvel of beauty, she reveals herself in garments,

and indeed, her necks and throats have stirred my longing.

  17. محجبة عنها لفرط ظهورها

    بها عجز المثني وكل المبالغ

Veiled from herself by the excess of her manifestation,

before her, the praiser and every extravagant eulogist fall short.
