Indeed, my drinking is the drinking of thirst-maddened camels,
My drinking of the drink of love's distress
From cups of beauty—the Essence of the Eternal One.
From cups of beauty from the ancient days

في ظلام على الصراط القويم
Nothingness made manifest by the light of existence,
Is utter nonexistence with the light of being
In darkness, upon the straight path.
In darkness, on the straight and narrow way

So be gentle in blaming me, O my companions,
So gentleness in blaming me, my friends
And be kind to the Malamati who is nothing.
And tenderness to my deficient blame

God knows me well, though I am nothingness
So now I am in accord with the All-Knowing's knowledge.
Now I'm a vessel of the Knowing's claim

Like a necklace to take order and extol

At every moment, through the beauty of an abiding command.

So that you may attain what every sage has attained.
