Indeed, Being has mingled with its existent things,

In imagination, without mingling; so recognize the degrees.

Their Exalter—degrees all belonging to Him—

Is Lord of the Throne; a throne has come encompassing the worlds.

These are the ranks; within them He is ever descending:

Ranks apart from Him, beyond all of which He has gone.

They are His conceptual distinctions, appearing within Himself,

Through Him, for Him, in Him, in order, without crookedness.

And all are nonbeing; He is Being, which to them

Is ascribed in the view of those with reason and discernment.

Rather, in truth, it is they that are ascribed to Him,

In my view, as was made clear in the Qur'an:

To God belongs whatever is in the heavens, and likewise whatever

Is on earth—indeed, everything; thus it has proclaimed.

And He has ever remained in His blessed state

Of transcendence above them; so inhale the fragrance.

So if you know, say of Him whatever you wish; but if

You are ignorant of Him, keep to restriction and constraint.

Exalted is Being, whose countenance alone

Is in everything like light, while all is darkness.

Like the sea, while all are like waves, from Him and belonging to Him.

He transcends them; so beware the depths.

And understand my words as I do, or leave them; and do not

Follow those ignorant concerning us; abandon the rabble.

    Indeed, we have learned, though we were ignorant of Him;

Thus we recognize ignorance, since the heart has escaped it.

And those ignorant of Him have not previously known

Him, so they know neither knowledge nor the path.

God is greatest! This is the face of our Creator:

In us it appeared, so we saw constriction and relief.

And we are determinations from Him, appearing through Him:

Thus some despair and induce despair, while others hope.

One who reckons himself as manifest things

Through Him, for Him, is whoever comes to Him or seeks refuge in Him.
