في الدال بالإهمال إعمالٌ بدا

خبرٌ له عين الحقيقة مبتدا

خبرٌ له عين الحقيقة مبتدا

In the undotted dāl, an operation appeared:

In neglecting the letter Dāl is a practice

A predicate whose subject is reality itself.

That begins with the truth made clearly manifest

وعليه من كل الجهات علائمٌ

وعليه من كل الجهات علائمٌ

دلَّت على التقوى وأنواع الهدى

دلَّت على التقوى وأنواع الهدى

And upon it are signs from every direction,

And upon it are signs from every direction

Which pointed to piety and forms of guidance.

That point to piety and the ways of right guidance

صدق الذي هو كاذبٌ في طوره

صدق الذي هو كاذبٌ في طوره

طبق الإرادة في الشعار وفي الرِّدا

طبق الإرادة في الشعار وفي الرِّدا

The truthfulness of one who is false in his own state

Truthful is He who in His attribute is a deceiver

Accords with the will, in inner garment and cloak.

Matching His will in creed and in rejection

إن الذوات توهُّماتُ العقل في

إن الذوات توهُّماتُ العقل في

أوصاف باريها كإرجاع الصدى

أوصاف باريها كإرجاع الصدى

Indeed, entities are the mind's imaginings within

Verily essences are the mind's conjectures

The attributes of their Creator, like an echo's return.

In describing their Creator, like echoes' reflection

والحرف ينشأ بانحراف الطبع عن

والحرف ينشأ بانحراف الطبع عن

سنن استقامته فتشهده العدا

سنن استقامته فتشهده العدا

And the letter arises through nature's deviation from

And letters originate in nature's deviance

Its straight course; so the foes behold it.

From the norms of its rectitude, so it bears witness against it

طُوِيَ الطريق على انتشار جهاته

طُوِيَ الطريق على انتشار جهاته

فانظر لمطلقه تراه مقيدا

فانظر لمطلقه تراه مقيدا

The path was folded up despite the spread of its directions;

The path was folded over the breadth of its directions

So look at its unbounded form: you will see it bound.

So look to its absolute, you will find it restricted

يا ظاهراً في كل ما هو ظاهرٌ

يا ظاهراً في كل ما هو ظاهرٌ

يا باطناً نفسي لأنفسك الفدا

يا باطناً نفسي لأنفسك الفدا

O you who are manifest in all that is manifest,

O Manifest in all that is manifest

O hidden one, my soul is ransom for your souls.

O Hidden to whom my inner self I sacrifice

والسر في يوم القيامة قولهم

والسر في يوم القيامة قولهم

نفسي وقولك أمتي متقصدا

نفسي وقولك أمتي متقصدا

And the secret on the Day of Resurrection is their saying,

And the secret on the Day of Standing will be their saying

'Myself!' and your deliberate saying, 'My community!'

"Myself" and Your saying "My nation," with purpose intended

هذا هو النور المبين لعارفٍ

هذا هو النور المبين لعارفٍ

ولغارف من بحر شرعك جددا

ولغارف من بحر شرعك جددا

This is the manifest light for one who knows,

This is the clear light for one who knows

And for one drawing what is new from the sea of your law.

And for one ignorant a new sea in Your law immersed
