I am a meaning in which the Real intended me.

And like me, everything is an utterance about Him.

We are all meanings—spirit and soul,

and bodies; this is a self-evident matter.

So the Real effaces from us whatever He wills,

and establishes according to an order held by Him.

And we are all nothingness, yet

He determines us and so manifests us before Him.

And no one encompasses Him, exalted is He,

nor can understanding or intellect grasp Him.

Whenever a servant offers a message about Him,

when the messenger falls silent, he says, "Go on!"

And whoever shows signs of error draws away,

holding himself aloof, then is overcome with regret.

And God's people are all generous young men,

noble, endowed with high stations, and discerning.

and turns away from the fool's sayings.

And what do fools seek from us,

in ignorance, with conceit and arrogance?

And we possess the sciences, with sincere resolve,

in the presence of the shaykhs, from an eminent figure.

Our peerless one keeps recounting noble deeds

here, from his grandfather or his father.

Nor has his lineage been tainted by unbelief,

such that, if ever his mother appeared, you would scorn him.

His is the sound heart, and he has not departed from

the path of the pious, trustworthy jurist.
