    I am a knower of God,

    And I draw from the sea—

    A sea of sacred knowledge,

    From which insights emerge.

    طاف فيهن طائف

    We are all ships upon it;

    A wanderer roamed within them.

    O refuge for everyone

    Of whom a fearful one has been afraid,

    Be a refuge for my whole being

    Where fears appear.

    And be gracious, and guide me

    Through You; indeed, I am Your companion.

    Do not entrust me to anything other than You,

    For You dispel otherness.

    Everyone who has turned away

    From You is in opposition.

    نحن ما أنت قاذف

    You—not we—are all of us;

    We are what You cast forth.

    God casts, I said, with the

    Truth—and these are the subtleties.

    O my dear friends, be in accord

    With your state; do not oppose it.

    And beware lest you be deceived

    By the wastelands, with their barren expanses.

    How many souls have become bewildered,

    And dense material forms have overwhelmed them,

    And they have not found their way to the Truth,

    And reason stops at them.

    The water of Truth has become clear, and no

    Thing within it is at odds.

    فليزلنا المكاشف

    All of us are cloudiness within it;

    So let the unveiler efface us

    With purity and fidelity; and no

    Distractor turns him away from Him.

    حارفي الوصف واصف

    The Truth is but our unseen reality;

    A describer was bewildered in describing it.
