1. ردني الله إليه من سواهُ

    بالذي شاء فلا أحصى ثناهُ

    God returned me to Himself from all besides Him,

    through what He willed—so I cannot count His praise.

  2. وتولاني فلا حول ولا

    قوة مع حول قلبي وقواه

    And He took me into His care, so there is no might nor

    strength, even with my heart's might and its powers.

  3. وأنا أستغفر الله هنا

    من مقامي إن أرى فيه سواه

    And I ask God for forgiveness here

    for my station, if I see in it anything other than Him.

  4. يا وجوداً أنا فيه عدم

    طبق تقديرك لي ناديت يا هو

    O Being, in whom I am nothingness,

    in accordance with Your decree for me, I called out, 'O He!'

  5. لا تدعني بالسوى مشتغلاً

    عنك لي عز من الغير وجاه

    Do not leave me preoccupied with anything else,

    away from You, with honor and prestige from others.

  6. انا محفوظ ومحفوظ وإن

    صلف الكلُّ على حالي وتاهوا

    I am protected, and protected, even if

    all show arrogance toward my state and act haughtily.

  7. وأنا الملحوظ بالعين التي

    هي عين العين ما فيها اشتباه

    And I am the one beheld by the eye that

    is the eye's very essence; there is no confusion in it.

  8. فتنكب أيها العاذل عن

    لوم صبٍّ ذاب عشقاً من صباه

    So turn aside, O reproacher, from

    blaming a lovesick lover who has melted in passion since his youth.
