كل قول على العقول يشقُّ

ليس جمعاً وإنما هو فرقُ

ليس جمعاً وإنما هو فرقُ

Every saying that weighs upon the intellects

is not union, but separation.

والذي من ورا العقول فجمعٌ

والذي من ورا العقول فجمعٌ

هو بالقلب ليس يبديه نطق

هو بالقلب ليس يبديه نطق

And what lies beyond the intellects is union;

it is in the heart; no utterance reveals it.

وحدة أطلقت عليه تعالى

وحدة أطلقت عليه تعالى

في ثلاث من الكلام تدق

في ثلاث من الكلام تدق

Unity is ascribed to Him—exalted is He—

in three expressions of subtle meaning.

هو حق وباطل ما سواه

هو حق وباطل ما سواه

من جميع الأكوان غرب وشرق

من جميع الأكوان غرب وشرق

He is the Real, and all besides Him is unreal,

among all created worlds, west and east.

ووجود وغيره عدم لا

ووجود وغيره عدم لا

يقتضي غير ذا ولا يستحق

يقتضي غير ذا ولا يستحق

And He is Being; all else is nonbeing, which neither

entails nor deserves anything beyond this.

وهو نور بدت به ظلمات

وهو نور بدت به ظلمات

هن سحقٌ جميعهنَّ ومحق

هن سحقٌ جميعهنَّ ومحق

And He is Light, through which darknesses appeared;

they are all annihilated and effaced.

هكذا عنه في الكتاب يكنَّى

هكذا عنه في الكتاب يكنَّى

وبهذا لعارف الله سبق

وبهذا لعارف الله سبق

Thus He is alluded to in the Book,

and through this the knower of God has precedence.

إن يشأ عنه قال وحدة حق

إن يشأ عنه قال وحدة حق

أو يشأ وحدة الوجود تحق

أو يشأ وحدة الوجود تحق

If he wishes, he says of Him, 'Unity of the Real';

or, if he wishes, 'Unity of Being' holds true;

أو يشأ قال وحدة النور عنه

أو يشأ قال وحدة النور عنه

كلمات ما هن للدين خرق

or, if he wishes, he says of Him, 'Unity of Light'—

words that are no breach of the faith.

وحدة الحق حققت كل شيء

وحدة الحق حققت كل شيء

فجميع الأشياء بالحق حَقُّ

فجميع الأشياء بالحق حَقُّ

The unity of the Real has made everything real;

so all things are real through the Real.

وكذا وحدة الوجود بها قد

وكذا وحدة الوجود بها قد

وُجِدَ الكلُّ فهي للكل حُقُّ

وُجِدَ الكلُّ فهي للكل حُقُّ

Likewise, the unity of Being: through it

all has come to be; so it is a receptacle for all.

وسعت قال رحمتي كل شيء

وسعت قال رحمتي كل شيء

فتأمل ماذا يقول المحق

فتأمل ماذا يقول المحق

He said, 'My mercy has encompassed everything.'

So ponder what the Truthful One says.

وحدة النور للجميع أنارت

وحدة النور للجميع أنارت

فجميع الأشياء بالنور صدق

فجميع الأشياء بالنور صدق

The unity of Light has given light to all;

so all things are true through Light.

هذه هذه الثلاثة أمر

هذه هذه الثلاثة أمر

واحد وهو بالتقادير برق

واحد وهو بالتقادير برق

These—these three—are a reality

that is one; through the decrees, it is a lightning-flash.

قدراً قل مقدراً أمره كا

قدراً قل مقدراً أمره كا

ن كما قال والعوالم رق

ن كما قال والعوالم رق

Say: 'His command was a decree ordained,'

as He said; and the worlds are parchment.
