وراء هذا الوجود عندي

وراء هذا الوجود عندي

وجود حقٍّ قديم عهدِ

وجود حقٍّ قديم عهدِ

Beyond this existence, in my view,

Behind this existence, I have

Lies the existence of the Real, of eternal standing,

An ancient, true existence

مقدس الذات عن كلامي

مقدس الذات عن كلامي

بكل ما عنه كنت أبدي

بكل ما عنه كنت أبدي

Holy in essence, beyond my speech,

Sacred in essence beyond my speech

With all that I used to express about it,

With all that I was expressing about it

وعن إشاراتي اللواتي

وعن إشاراتي اللواتي

بها تحريت كل قصد

بها تحريت كل قصد

And beyond my allusions, which

And my gestures with which

I used in seeking every aim.

I sought every purpose

فلا تظنوا بأن هذا ال

فلا تظنوا بأن هذا ال

وجود ذاك الوجود عندي

وجود ذاك الوجود عندي

So do not suppose that this

So do not think that this

Existence is that existence, in my view.

Existence is that existence to me

لأن هذا الوجود شيءٌ

لأن هذا الوجود شيءٌ

له حدوثٌ من بعد فقد

له حدوثٌ من بعد فقد

For this existence is a thing

For this existence is something

That comes into being after nonexistence.

That has occurrence after loss

وذاك غيب وغيب غيب

وذاك غيب وغيب غيب

وذا عيان لكل عبد

وذا عيان لكل عبد

And that is unseen, and the unseen of the unseen,

While that is absent and absent upon absent

While this is visible to every servant.

And this is evident to every servant

والعقل عن ذاك في ضلال

والعقل عن ذاك في ضلال

وليس يدري طريق رشد

وليس يدري طريق رشد

And reason is astray concerning that,

And the mind is lost about that

And knows no path of right guidance,

And does not know the path of righteousness

إلا بإيمانه بغيب

إلا بإيمانه بغيب

وكل ما الشرع جاء يهدي

وكل ما الشرع جاء يهدي

Except through its faith in the unseen

Except by faith in the unseen

And in all that sacred law has come to teach.

And all that the Shariah came to guide

وما أتانا به كتاب

وما أتانا به كتاب

وسنة للكمال يجدي

وسنة للكمال يجدي

And what has come to us through Scripture

And what the Book brought us

And the Sunnah avails toward perfection,

And the Sunnah for perfection avails

وترك عقل وحفظ نقل

وترك عقل وحفظ نقل

لفرط سعيٍ له وجدِّ

لفرط سعيٍ له وجدِّ

As do abandoning reason and preserving transmitted teaching,

And leaving the mind and preserving the transmission

Through intense striving for it and diligence.

For abundant effort and seriousness

فكن بهذا على يقين

فكن بهذا على يقين

وحدك إني بذاك وحدي

وحدك إني بذاك وحدي

So be certain of this,

So be with this certain

Alone; I am alone in that.

You alone, I am with that alone

ولا تبالي بكل داع

ولا تبالي بكل داع

إلى سواه أتى برد

إلى سواه أتى برد

And heed no caller

And do not care for any caller

To anything other than it who brings a rebuttal.

To other than Him that came to repel
