إياك تشهد غيره ودع العَنا

إياك تشهد غيره ودع العَنا

لا أنت في هذا الوجود ولا أنا

لا أنت في هذا الوجود ولا أنا

Beware of beholding any but Him, and leave toil behind.

Do not testify to another besides Him, leave complaining

Neither you nor I are in this existence.

Neither you exist in this existence, nor do I

هذا الوجود هو الحقيقيُّ الذي

هذا الوجود هو الحقيقيُّ الذي

نبدو به وبه نعود إلى الفنا

نبدو به وبه نعود إلى الفنا

This existence is the real one, through which

This existence is the Real One who

We appear, and through which we return to annihilation.

We appear through Him and through Him we return to annihilation

وإذا به عدنا نعود كلم نكن

وإذا به عدنا نعود كلم نكن

وإذا بدونا فهو باد دوننا

وإذا بدونا فهو باد دوننا

And when we return through it, we return as though we had never been.

And if through Him we return, we return as we were not

And when we appear, it is manifest without us.

And if we cease to be, He remains without us

والباطل الشان الذي هو باطل

والباطل الشان الذي هو باطل

والحق حق إن تباعد أو دنا

والحق حق إن تباعد أو دنا

And the affair that is unreal is unreal;

The false glory which is false

And the Real is real, whether far away or near.

And the truth is truth, whether near or far

إن الذي هو عالم بك جاهل

إن الذي هو عالم بك جاهل

يا من تحجب بالسوى وتبينا

يا من تحجب بالسوى وتبينا

Indeed, whoever knows You is ignorant,

Indeed, the one who knows you is ignorant

O You who have veiled Yourself with otherness and become manifest.

O You who veil with equality and appear to us

لونان كالحرباء لون خلائق

لونان كالحرباء لون خلائق

ظهرت ولون حقائق هن المنى

ظهرت ولون حقائق هن المنى

Two colors, like the chameleon's: a color of creatures

Two colors like the chameleon, the color of creations appeared

That have appeared, and a color of realities, which are the objects of desire.

And the color of truths, it is the purpose

يا ابن الحوادث لا تظن فلا تكن

يا ابن الحوادث لا تظن فلا تكن

أنت القديم وإن بدا بك واعتنى

أنت القديم وإن بدا بك واعتنى

O son of created things, do not suppose, and do not be

O son of incidents, do not suppose, so you will not be

The Eternal yourself, though He appears through you and cares for you.

You are the Eternal even if it appears through you and pays attention to you

هو عنك ممتاز هنا بوجوده

هو عنك ممتاز هنا بوجوده

وبك امتياز عنه في عدم هنا

وبك امتياز عنه في عدم هنا

He is distinct from you here through His existence.

He is distinct from you, existing here through His existence

And here your distinction from Him lies in nonbeing.

And you are distinct from Him in non-existence here

هيهات هيهات الوجود يكون لل

هيهات هيهات الوجود يكون لل

عدم المقدر أو بعكس كالأنا

عدم المقدر أو بعكس كالأنا

Impossible, impossible, that existence should belong to

Never, never, existence can be for

Posited nonbeing, or the reverse, as with the 'I'.

The non-existent estimated or vice versa like the I

إن الحلول من الجهول توهُّمٌ

إن الحلول من الجهول توهُّمٌ

في قول أهل الله يجعل ديدنا

في قول أهل الله يجعل ديدنا

Indeed, indwelling is a delusion of the ignorant,

Indeed, indwelling is fanciful delusion

Made a habitual refrain concerning the words of God's people.

In the words of the people of God, it makes a habit

ما إن سمعت ولست أسمع عاقلاً

ما إن سمعت ولست أسمع عاقلاً

أبداً يظن الحق يسكن ممكنا

أبداً يظن الحق يسكن ممكنا

I have never heard, nor do I hear, a rational person

I have never heard a reasonable person

Ever suppose that the Real inhabits a contingent being.

Ever think the Truth dwells in the contingent

وإنِ النصوص أتت به فلأنها

وإنِ النصوص أتت به فلأنها

جاءت على عقد النبي تيقُّنا

جاءت على عقد النبي تيقُّنا

And if the texts speak of it, it is because they

And if the texts came with it, it is because they

Came in accordance with the Prophet's firm belief, with certainty.

Came in the manner of the Prophet, as certainty

إن الوجود على الحقيقة واحد

إن الوجود على الحقيقة واحد

في كل شيء قد بدا وتعينا

في كل شيء قد بدا وتعينا

Indeed, existence is, in truth, one;

Indeed, existence in reality is one

In everything it has appeared and become determinate.

In everything that appeared and specified

والشيء تقدير له فانٍ كما

والشيء تقدير له فانٍ كما

قد جاء فاكشف عنه إن تك مؤمنا

قد جاء فاكشف عنه إن تك مؤمنا

And each thing is a posited determination of it, perishing, as

And the thing is an estimation of it, fleeting, as

Has been stated; so lift its veil, if you are a believer.

It came, so uncover it if you are a believer

والحق قيوم لمن هو باطل

والحق قيوم لمن هو باطل

وهو السوى بالوهم قام فأفتنا

وهو السوى بالوهم قام فأفتنا

And the Real is the Sustainer of the unreal,

And the Truth is Eternal for what is false

And it is otherness, arising through illusion; so give us your ruling.

And He is the Equal, by illusion it stood, so guide us
