Sol 6.1

  1. إن الجميع حدود في العقول وفي

    مراتب الحسن قد زادت على العددِ

    All are limits within the minds, and in

    beauty's ranks they have grown beyond number.

  2. يبدو بها من بدا فيها تحكُّمُه

    ذات من الغيب تدعى حضرة الأحدِ

    Through them appears the One whose mastery has appeared within them—

    an Essence from the Unseen, called the Presence of the One.

  3. بمقتضى ما لديها كان من صفة

    قديمة هي في التأثير بالرصد

    As required by the attribute it possessed—

    pre-eternal, watchfully poised to exert its influence.

  4. إياك والزهد في الأشياء إن ترها

    بنفسها هي قامت غبت عن رشد

    Beware renouncing things: if you see them

    as subsisting by themselves, you have strayed from right guidance.

  5. وإن تكن تَرَها قامت به ترها

    تجليات له في كل معتقد

    And if you see them subsisting through Him, you see them

    as manifestations of Him in every belief.

  6. نعم تنزه أيضاً في الظهور بها

    من قبل إظهارها بالمنزه الصمد

    Yes, He is transcendent, too, in appearing through them,

    by virtue of their manifestation by the Transcendent, the Self-Sufficient.

  7. وهو المنزه أيضا في الظهور بها

    عن والد يقتضَى منها وعن ولد

    And He is also transcendent in appearing through them,

    beyond any father inferred from them, and beyond any child.

  8. لأنها عدم وهو الوجود لها

    وإن خلت عنه لم تبد ولم تُعِد

    For they are nonbeing, while He is their existence;

    and if bereft of Him, they would neither appear nor return.

  9. ما الزهد عندي مقام إذ يدل على

    قطع العوالم لي عن صاحب المدد

    To me, renunciation is no spiritual station, for it implies

    the worlds' cutting me off from the Giver of aid.

  10. وكيف أزهد في الأشياء وهي به

    كانت وكان بها أيضا إلى الأبد

    And how could I renounce things, when through Him they

    came to be, and He too abides through them for all eternity?
