ومعاني الربيع نورًا وعطرا

The curlew’s calls come one after another at night,

The night calls of the caravan in succession

And spring’s meanings—light and fragrance,

And the meanings of spring, light and fragrance

وجمال الحياة حبّاً وحسناً

وجمال الحياة حبّاً وحسناً

وشباباً يفيض عطفاً وبِشرا

وشباباً يفيض عطفاً وبِشرا

And life’s beauty—love and loveliness,

And the beauty of life, love and charm

And youth overflowing with tenderness and cheer.

And overflowing youth, kindness and good news

بتُّ أُصغي لها وأقبس منها

بتُّ أُصغي لها وأقبس منها

ثم ترجمتُها لمن شاء شعرا

ثم ترجمتُها لمن شاء شعرا

I spent the night listening to them and drawing inspiration from them,

I listen to them and take from them

Then I translated them into verse for whoever wished.
