To you, for she never leaves you a day free of worry.

أليس لها همٌّ فهاتيك خلة

صداقتها أضنى من الهم للجسم

صداقتها أضنى من الهم للجسم

Has she no cares? Then she is a friend

Does it not have a care? Here you are her intimate

Whose friendship is more exhausting to the body than worry.

Her friendship is more tormenting than worry itself is to the body

وما بين همٍّ دائم أو سآمة

وما بين همٍّ دائم أو سآمة

خيارٌ لمختار وحكمٌ لذي حكم

خيارٌ لمختار وحكمٌ لذي حكم

And between ceaseless worry or boredom,

And between constant worry or boredom

There is no choice for a chooser, nor judgment for one with judgment.

There is a choice for the chooser and wisdom for the wise

فخذها على علاتها والْقَ عيشها

فخذها على علاتها والْقَ عيشها

شقيًّا بعلم، أو شقيًّا بلا علم

شقيًّا بعلم، أو شقيًّا بلا علم

So take her with her faults, and face her life

So take her with her faults and live her life

Wretched with knowledge, or wretched without knowledge.
