Is the ultimate goal.

فيا أسفي أن نال مكنون علمه

فيا أسفي أن نال مكنون علمه

سواك من الأملاك في غير ذا العصر

سواك من الأملاك في غير ذا العصر

And alas, that its hidden knowledge was attained

Alas that its hidden knowledge

By kings other than you, in an age other than this.

Was attained by others than me in this age

وزدني من الإدناء ما قد وعدتني

وزدني من الإدناء ما قد وعدتني

فوعدك مضمون إلى حجج عشر

فوعدك مضمون إلى حجج عشر

And grant me more of the closeness you have promised me,

And increase my lowliness as you have promised me

For your promise is guaranteed for ten years.

For your promise is guaranteed by ten proofs

فليس محالاً أن أحلَّ محلةً

فليس محالاً أن أحلَّ محلةً

أضيفَ لها قبلي المضاف إلى شمرِ

أضيفَ لها قبلي المضاف إلى شمرِ

For it is not impossible that I should occupy a station

It is not impossible that I will reach a status

To which, before me, the man linked to Shimr was appointed.

To which I was added before, along with Shimr

لقد كان من في رحمةِ اللَه هم بي

لقد كان من في رحمةِ اللَه هم بي

لهذا وما صار ابن شمرٍ إلى القبر

لهذا وما صار ابن شمرٍ إلى القبر

Indeed, he who is in God's mercy had thought of me

Indeed, those in Allah's mercy were concerned about me

For this, while Ibn Shimr had not yet gone to the grave.

For this and what the son of Shimr reached in the grave
