أَلاHo! مَنwho مُبلِغٌwill convey عَنّيfrom me خُفافاto Khufaf
أَلُوكاًa message بَيتُthe house أُهلِكَof your family مُنتَهاهاits destination
Ho! Who will convey from me to Khufaf
Is there anyone to carry my news stealthily
a message whose destination is your family's home?
To the tents where my family has settled?
أَناI الرَجُلُthe man الَّذيwho حُدِّثتَyou were told عَنهُabout him
إِذاwhen الخَفِراتُthe modest women لَمnot تَستُرconceal بُراهاtheir anklets
I am the man you have been told about:
I am the man you were told about,
When modest women do not conceal their anklets,
When guards could no longer conceal their awe.
أَشُدَّI charge عَلىagainst الكَتيبَةِthe battalion لاnot أُباليI care
أَحتَفيwhether my death كانَwas فيهاin it أَمor سِواهاother than it
I charge the battalion, not caring
I press on against the battalion recklessly;
whether my death lies within it or elsewhere.
I revel whether I am among them or not.
وَليand I have نَفسٌa soul تَتوقُyearns إِلىfor المَعاليlofty attainments

And I have a soul that yearns for greatness;
My soul aspires to great heights;
it will perish, or I will bring it to what it desires.
Either it will be fulfilled or I will help it attain its wish.
