    By my life, the generous son of Asim has indeed kept faith,

    and sheltered a neighbor when he saddled his young camel.

    فَلَم يَرَ سَوءاتٍ وَلَم يَخشَ غَدرَه

    He lived in honor, with the people's gathering-place beside him;

    so he saw no shameful deeds and feared no treachery from him.

    He dwelt among Sa'd, drinking water in safety,

    eating its choicest fare and resting at its edge.

    For when you exchanged Qays son of Asim

    for Juwayn, you surely chose the worst of dwellings.

    وَماذا عَدا جاراً كَريماً وَأُسرَه

    So he began urging his saddled mount through a desert waste;

    and what did he leave behind but a generous protector and a clan?

    In the land of treachery they linger, devouring their pledge—

    Juwayn and Shamkh, two bandits in Wajrah.

    They incur disgrace over provisions, though provisions are inviolable:

    two habitual thieves, from a stock of evil and wickedness.
