ني بلاها وذكر ملك جديد
Mulk has decayed in the dust, and her decay has worn
Roamed as a king in the dust, so I faded
me away, while the memory of Mulk is fresh.
My ecstasy faded, a new king was recalled
ينقصُdiminishes الوجدُlonging كلماwhenever قدمgrows old العهـthe bond (first part)
ينقصُ الوجدُ كلما قدم العهـ
ـدُcompletion of “bond” ووجديand my longing فيin كلevery يومday يزيدincreases
ـدُ ووجدي في كل يوم يزيد
Longing diminishes as the bond grows old,
Yearning recedes with each passing era
but my longing increases every day.
Yet my fervor grows greater each day
