ومِنand from طاعتيmy obedience إيّاهُhim أَمطرَrained ناظرِيmy eye
ومِن طاعتي إيّاهُ أَمطرَ ناظرِي
إذاwhenever هوَhe أَبدىshowed منfrom ثَناياهُhis front teeth ليto me بَرقاa flash of lightning
إذا هوَ أَبدى من ثَناياهُ لي بَرقا
And in obedience to him, my eye rains,
My obedience to him rains down from my eyes
Whenever he shows me a flash of lightning from his front teeth.
When he shows me from his folds a lightning flash
كأنَّas though جفونيmy eyelids تُبصرُsee الوَصلَunion هارِباًfleeing
كأنَّ جفوني تُبصرُ الوَصلَ هارِباً
فَمِنso for أَجلِthe sake of ذاthis تَجرِيthey run لتُدركهُto catch it سَبقاracing ahead
فَمِن أَجلِ ذا تَجرِي لتُدركهُ سَبقا
As though my eyelids see union fleeing,
As if my eyelids see connection fleeing
So for this reason they run to catch it, racing ahead.
So for this they flow to overtake it quickly
