وجهٌa face كأنَّas though البدرَthe full moon ليلةَon the night of تمّهِits fullness
وجهٌ كأنَّ البدرَ ليلةَ تمّهِ
منهُfrom it استعارَborrowed النُّورَthe light والإشراقاand the radiance
منهُ استعارَ النُّورَ والإشراقا
A face—as though the full moon, on the night of its fullness,
A face as though the full moon on its night of perfection,
Had borrowed from it light and radiance.
From it, light and radiance are borrowed,
وأَرىand I see عليهupon it حَديقةَa garden أَضحىhas become لهاfor it
وأَرى عليه حَديقةَ أَضحى لها
حَدقيmy pupils وأَحداقُand the pupils of الأنامhumankind نطاقاa girdle
حَدقي وأَحداقُ الأنام نطاقا
And I see upon it a garden that has come to have
And I see upon it a garden, for which my eyes
My pupils and the pupils of humankind as a girdle.
And the eyes of all people have become a meadow.
