أماas for كلابKilāb فإناso indeed we نسالمهاwe make peace with them
أما كلاب فإنا نسالمها
حتىuntil يسالمmakes peace with ذئبwolf الثلةthe flock الراعيthe shepherd
حتى يسالم ذئب الثلة الراعي
As for Kilāb, we make peace with them,
Though we make peace with other clans,
until the wolf of the flock makes peace with the shepherd.
The wolfpack’s chief we can’t befriend.
بنوthe sons of جذيمةJadhīma حامواthey defended حولaround سيدهمtheir chief
بنو جذيمة حاموا حول سيدهم
إلاexcept أسيداًUsayd نجاhe escaped إذwhen ثوبraised the alarm الداعيthe caller
إلا أسيداً نجا إذ ثوب الداعي
The sons of Jadhīma stood in defense around their chief,
Jadhimah’s sons their lord surround,
except Usayd, who escaped when the caller raised the alarm.
Except Asid who flees his end.
