عَلىon ذيhaving مَنارٍa landmark تَعرِفُrecognizes العَينُthe eye مَتنَهُits back
عَلى ذي مَنارٍ تَعرِفُ العَينُ مَتنَهُ
كَماjust as تَرِفُrecognize (apparent intended reading) الأَضيافُthe guests دارُthe house المُقَطَّعِal-Muqattaʿ
كَما تَرِفُ الأَضيافُ دارُ المُقَطَّعِ
Lofty indeed is a landmark whose ridge the eye recognizes,
On a landmarked road whose back the eye recognizes,
as guests recognize the house of al-Muqaṭṭaʿ.
Just as guests [recognize] the house of al-Muqattaʿ.
