قَمَرُthe moon السَماءِof the sky وَشَمسُهاand its sun اِجتَمَعاthe two came together
قَمَرُ السَماءِ وَشَمسُها اِجتَمَعا
بِالسَعيدِat al-Saʿid ماغاباthey did not set وَماand did not طَلَعاrise
بِالسَعيدِ ماغابا وَما طَلَعا
The moon of the sky and its sun have come together.
The moon of the sky and its sun gathered
At al-Saʿid, they neither set nor rose.
around the fortunate one, never setting or rising.
ماnot وارَتconcealed الأَستارُthe curtains مِثلَهُماthe like of them both
ما وارَت الأَستارُ مِثلَهُما
مَنwho ذاis it that رَأىsaw هَذاthis وَمَنand who سَمِعاheard
مَن ذا رَأى هَذا وَمَن سَمِعا
Never have curtains concealed a pair like them.
The veils have never concealed the like of them.
Who has seen this, and who has heard of it?
Who has seen this? And who has heard?
دامَmay endure السُرورُjoy لَهُfor him بِهاwith her وَلَهاand for her
دامَ السُرورُ لَهُ بِها وَلَها
وَتَهَنَّياand may they both be happy طولَthroughout الحَياةِlife مَعاtogether
وَتَهَنَّيا طولَ الحَياةِ مَعا
May joy endure for him with her, and for her.
May happiness last for him through her and for her,
And may they be happy together throughout life.
and may they congratulate each other throughout life.
