ولاَ تَعْجَلاَنِي أَنْ أَقُولَ لَهَا اسْلَمِي
My two friends, turn aside and greet Umm Khashram.
My friends, gently awaken Umm Khoshram
And do not rush me before I tell her, 'Be well.'
And do not hurry me to bid her convert

غِنَاءُ الحَمَامِ الوُرْقِ بِالمُتَهَوَّمِ
Delicate in her silken robe, she is stirred
She is delicate, the silk wrapper reveals her
By the song of ash-gray doves at al-Mutahawwam.
The cooing of the doves in the foliage disturbs me

دُجَى اللَّيْلِ عَنْ عَذْبٍ أَغَرَّ مُوشَّمِ
When she smiles in the dark of night, she parts
When she smiles in the darkness of night, she dispels
The night's gloom, revealing a sweet, gleaming, tattoo-marked mouth,
The gloom of night with sweetness, a fascinating tattoo

With shining front teeth, fine-grown and lustrous—
The most delightful curves, hidden in the shadows is their growth
Pinnacles of hail, their tips unchipped.
Specks of dew, their edges unblemished

And a throat over which flowed coins struck in Persia,
And a neck overflowing from the blow of a horseman's sword
As many gold dinars and dirhams as you could wish.
For whatever price you wish of silver coin or gold dinar

لهُ مَوْهِناً مِنْ عَارِضٍ مُبَتَسِّمِ
Like ghada embers upon a sand dune, when the east wind blew
Like embers of passion above the soft sands, blown by the morning breeze
Upon them late at night, from a smiling rain cloud.
It has a tender inclination from a smiling cheek
