فَرَأَيْتُهَاso I found them عُصْلاًhard and crooked مُوَقَّحَةًhardened
عَزَّتْthey proved unyielding فَمَاso not تُسْطَاعُcould be overcome بِالْكَسْرِby breaking
So I found them crooked and hardened,
unyielding, not to be broken.
فَلِذَاكَso, for that reason صِرْتُI came to be مَعَwith الشَّبِيبَةِthe young نَازِلاًdwelling
فيin غَيْرِother than مَنْزِلَتِيmy station مِنَof العُمْرِlife
So I came to dwell among the young,
at a stage of life not my own.
