ونَحْنُAnd we مَنَعْنَاwe prevented البَحْرَthe sea أَنْfrom يَشْرَبُواthey drink بِهِfrom it
وقَدْand indeed كَانَhad been مِنْكُمْfrom you مَاؤُهُits water بِمَكَانِwithin reach
And we kept the sea from them, lest they drink from it,
And we kept them from drinking from the sea,
Though once its water had lain within your reach.
Though its water had been within your reach.
