رقصَdanced العمرُlife علىupon قيثارَتِكْyour lyre
You are a melody of love and gathered fruit.
You are a melody of passion and madness
Life danced to your lyre.
Life danced to your guitar
أقـبـلَcame forward الــوجـدُpassion إليـكِtoward you ودَنـَىand drew near
ينحنيbows طَوعًاwillingly ليُمليto dictate رَاحتِـكْyour repose
Passion came toward you and drew near,
Yearning came to you and drew near
Bowing willingly to dictate your repose.
Bending willingly to take your hand
وإذاand when الشــوقُlonging تمادَىwent too far وانثَنىand turned back
يسرِقُsteals النظرةَthe glance منfrom إشراقَتِكْyour radiance
And when longing went too far and turned back,
And when longing persisted and turned
It steals a glance from your radiance.
It would steal a glance from your sunrise
أيُّـهـذاO you there مُــسْـــــتَثارًاroused مُـثــخَــنــاsorely wounded
خَفِّفِlighten الـوَطءَthe tread علىupon ميّاسـَتِكْyour swaying one
O you, roused and sorely wounded,
Who is this provoked, wounded
Tread lightly upon your swaying one.
Lighten your step on your instrument
طالماhow often أحسـستُI felt وجدًاpassion ضَمّناembraced us
وكــأنَّand as though الضَــمَّthe embrace منfrom ديـبـاجَتـِـكْyour brocade
How often I felt a passion that embraced us,
I have often felt a love hidden
And as though the embrace were made of your brocade.
As if that love were from your silk
صفَّقَclapped القلبُthe heart ســرورًاwith joy وانحنَىand bowed
يرشِفُsips الشَــهدةَthe honey منfrom إطلالَتِكْyour appearance
The heart clapped with joy and bowed,
My heart clapped in joy and bent
Sipping honey from your appearance.
Sipping the nectar from your vision
ودَنَـــاand drew near مـِنfrom خــافِــقَــيــهits two fluttering wings مـاwhat دَنـَـاdrew near

And what drew near drew near from its two fluttering wings,
And from its beats came so close
Stealing a kiss from it—your cheek.
To secretly steal a kiss from you
انبَرَىsprang forth حِــسٌّa feeling يُناغيcoos to شـَــــــوقَنـاour longing
وكأنَّand as though الحِــــسَّthe feeling مَنone who فيin حَوزتِكْyour possession
A feeling sprang forth, cooing to our longing,
A feeling arose defying our longing
And as though that feeling were someone in your keeping.
As if that feeling were in your possession

O smooth, velvety one, O radiance
Oh smooth, velvety, radiant
Of a tremor in the soul from your bubble.
A tremor in the soul from your charm

Turn away, or tear it apart—our promise;
Estrange me or tear it up and we will return
The heart will not cease hoping for your return.
The heart will not stop longing for your return
