The verses of my poetry prostrate themselves in your spacious courts.

Whatever I say, you are you—Muhammad.

And my sorrow vanishes when I praise you, clearing away.

And wishes are born whenever I praise you.

The midmorning sun drinks from the light of your face.

And the full moon truly gives of your radiance.

And the sun sets; its light does not remain.

But the light of your face is ever renewed.

For you are above the highest in rank, my master.

And you are indeed peerless in all noble virtues.

And you are indeed the light of light—you are Muhammad.

Who is there to deny your light, O Muhammad?

The darkness of my yesterday clears away through praising you.

And today shines for me, and tomorrow rejoices.

You have dazzling miracles, my master.

And your banner is always bound to victory.

On the night of the Night Journey, our beloved, you were

An excellent imam to follow, and an excellent master.

More modest than a virgin in her secluded chamber,

And in war the earth trembles because of you.

You cast, and God's eye guards your casting,

And surrounds you with care and guides your aim.

And through your saliva Qatada's eye is restored.

And through your saliva the sore-eyed sufferer is healed.

And water springs from your fingers, which

Quench the thirsty; your generosity never runs dry.

There was no aim in praising you, my master,

Except your pleasure—and what an excellent aim!

Through praising you, I hope we meet at your Pool.

Between you and me, O my beloved, is an appointed meeting.

Through praising you, I hope for nearness and intercession.

Far be it that one who loves you should be kept away at the Resurrection.

Indeed, one who is sincere in praising you

Will surely rejoice upon meeting you.

So accept my sincere praise for you, my master.

Indeed, through my praise I seek to endear myself to you.

I yearn to behold your face, O my master.

No fortitude remains in me, O beloved.

It is the ember of yearning; it does not go out.

Rather, O my beloved, it is always ablaze.

Singing your name is sweet to me, my master.

And in every gathering I chant in remembrance of you.

I shall surely invoke blessings upon you all my life,

As long as breath comes and goes within me.

O my Lord, send blessings upon the Prophet and his family,

As long as the muezzin says 'I bear witness' at the five prayers.
