My neighbor struck me, wronging me with his shot.
I said to him, “Wait,” but he denied what he had done.
He said, “The one who strikes you is your Lord, repaying you
for your sin; wrongdoing brings about what you see.”
I said to him, “If my Lord had struck me with a shot,
my God would not have missed what He aimed at.”
May God repay with evil everyone who commits a shameful deed
and, to excuse it, attributes the harm to the Lord.
