I beheld a whistling bird amid a garden,
I gazed at a lark in the midst of a garden,
Above sweet water, gazing at the sweetest limpid stream;
Beside sweet water, gazing toward sweeter, limpid water.
And while you watched it forage through the garden’s meadows,
And while you see it foraging in the garden’s meadows,
Suddenly there it lay, felled by a falcon’s talon.
Suddenly it lies struck down by a falcon’s talon.
