جمعت حباب الكأس حتى لحقته

فكونت منه في الإناء بدورا

فكونت منه في الإناء بدورا

I gathered the goblet’s bubbles until I had caught them all;

I gathered the cup’s bubbles until I caught up with them;

and fashioned from them, within the vessel, moons.

Then I formed from them full moons within the vessel.

فان لمسته الكأس لمساً لكفه

فان لمسته الكأس لمساً لكفه

رأيت الذي نظمت منه نثيرا

رأيت الذي نظمت منه نثيرا

But if the goblet merely brushed his palm,

Then, if the cup touched him upon his palm,

you would see scattered what I had strung from that foam.

I saw what I had strung together from them scattered.
