Sol 6.1

  1. O House of Osman, you have become a target

    for two who hold sway over livelihoods and sustenance.

  2. They contended, though their discord grew fierce,

    over your homelands, amid devastation and fragmentation.

  3. So how would you fare, my people, if the two agreed,

    both made secure by support and reinforcement?

  4. For sea and land have grown too narrow for their ambition;

    alas, the lion's bewilderment between the bear and the whale!

  5. So, if only I had, through fighting every oppressor,

    the renown and fame I have through my poetry.
