1. O Lord, the plague has struck Egypt, and I do not know

What my fate will be after the plague:

  2. Shall I be dead in the grave, mourned

    By virtue, guidance, and eminence,

  3. Or grieving over a dear kinsman,

Or a loved one of honor and fidelity,

  4. Or sound of heart and body, gladdened

By loved ones reunited and well-being?

  5. O Lord, my mind is torn; have mercy

On one bewildered between fear and hope.
