1. Peace to you, O Proof of Islam among us,

And divine favor, O hope of the Muslims.

  2. You took care over what you wrote, and it became a revelation,

    Supporting your inspirer's clear revelation.

  3. So you left no room for an accuser

To see therein allegations and suspicions.

  4. No hero who plunges into war alone,

And calls on no other for help,

  5. Striving in God's cause, redeeming

The native lands with his lifeblood, lest they be humbled,

  6. Is more enduring than you in deeds and remembrance,

And in esteem within the hearts of all people.

  7. And your victorious pen was a sword,

And your book was the sturdy shield.

  8. With it you captured lofty strongholds,

From which the conquerors' swords rebounded.

  9. And no sooner had error harmed humankind

Than you helped them and made certainty clear.

  10. So be gentle with the obstinate man: he has had enough

Of disputation, and is close to being humbled.

  11. And leave him to his reflection; perhaps he

Will come to you with the acknowledgment of the rightly guided.

  12. If the kings of the East were one day to follow

Your path among us, in worldly affairs and religion,

  13. Truth would endure, followed and protected,

And the realm would stand, far-reaching and secure.

  14. And the crown would live on, radiant and awe-inspiring,

And the throne would remain Egyptian and firm.

  15. And one like you, even were he to rule as an autocrat,

Has indeed filled consciences and eyes.
