I congratulate the cherished throne of Osman
I congratulate the cherished throne of Osman
upon this victory and this new conquest.
On this victory and the new conquest.
And after that war I hope for peace,
And after that war I hope for peace,
through the submission of every stubborn tyrant.
With every stubborn tyrant submitting.
I swear that this sovereign is most worthy
And I swear that this king is most worthy
of the burdens of the caliphate and of immortality.
Of the caliphate's burdens and of immortality.
Who, then, will make it possible for me to journey
Who, then, will ease a journey for me
to the field of those troops,
To the battlefield of those troops?
that I may stride there, my garments proudly distinguished,
So I may walk there, my garments marked,
bright of face, my song auspicious,
Bright-faced, with an auspicious song.
stirring with it the lofty spears and keen blades,
With it I stir the lofty spears and keen swords,
as the shoulders of lions sway?
As the flanks of lions quiver.
Sons of Osman, is there among you a witness
Sons of Osman, is there a witness among you
that I am your purest witness?
That I am your purest witness?
Mine is the heart that has lived only
Mine is the heart that has lived only
by these solemn covenants and pledges.
By these pledges and covenants.
I love you, and within me is a longing for you
I love you, and within me is a longing for you
that would almost fly away with me, but for my chains.
That would almost carry me aloft, were it not for my chains.
