1. Minister of glory, welcome—a warm and gracious welcome!

    Your return is auspicious, and your success is hoped for.

  2. Both loyal to the sacred throne and the homeland,

    Both happy within its bounds—you and the Nile.

  3. And though earth and heaven have praised your devotion,

    For you are naturally endowed with these virtues.

  4. Do you know an excuse and a justification for the angry,

    When Abbas, the age, and the generation are already pleased?

  5. And what we strive for, however costly

    to us, is surely assured and guaranteed by your resolve.

  6. And the policy you choose,

    made clear by sound experience, is surely acceptable.

  7. And whoever has struggled in the field knows the distance;

    And he may miss the appointed time if haste runs wild.

  8. Enough for Egypt: manifest justice from her guests,

    and affection linked to the seat of the Caliphate.

  9. We advance toward her independence, while she rests assured,

    though rumors multiply along her path.

  10. And in the name of the Prince of the Nile, not anyone else's,

    whenever an army grows or a fleet is renewed.
