1. O delegation of Egypt, adornment of Bedouins and townsfolk,

    Blessed be your endeavor, at home and on your travels.

  2. And you who will stand tomorrow at every congress,

    Witnessing the fate of the earth and humankind.

  3. The country's hopes, with which it was once consoled

    By the nights, have been fulfilled by just Fate.

  4. If neither air nor steamship has carried you,

    One pure in hopes and conduct has borne you.

  5. Those who have received news of you

    Are indeed eager for the traces and images.

  6. Present Egypt's cause in their assemblies;

    Everyone who hears, and everyone who sees, will do you justice.

  7. Indeed, proofs in hands and on tongues

    Are stronger than a lion's fang and claw.

  8. Lightning, the glad herald, will carry the news; and in

    The people's inmost thoughts lies what makes news needless.

  9. For how often they prayed with the certainty of one who patiently endures;

    So now they hold the certainty of one who waits.

  10. Surely, he who has lived in his valley, making it flourish,

    Is more entitled to the shade and fruit in his valley.
