1. You fell ill one day, and they said a crisis had struck,

    and that it was the distressed one's anger, not illness.

  2. May you remain safe for the cherished homeland, for you are to it

    a fine protector, a fine support and recompense.

  3. If you have fallen ill, it is from the burdens of what they left behind;

    and if you have grown angry, it is for the good they opposed.

  4. And if you recover, all the devoted recover;

    and if you are pleased, all the devoted are pleased.

  5. Leave the angry to their accustomed ways; they have not diminished

    your means or your final outcome, nor have they undone them.

  6. And everything that happened in secret or in public

    is other than what they thought and what they assumed.

  7. May they return, after their estrangement,

    as dear friends, and be glad after being vexed.
