1. After all you two have done to adorn faith and the homeland,

    do the enemies seek a share of us and spoils?

  2. Indeed, you two drove the tyrants from us, and they retreated;

    and you two repelled the dreadful calamity, and it recoiled.

  3. And you two prepared among us ways for us to reap

    victory through them, should they desire battle and you two desire it.

  4. And you two sustained us with hope and built

    strongholds for the homelands that rivaled the sky.

  5. And you two strengthened us through that concord of yours,

    by which you two became a hand and wrist for the faith.

  6. It charges forth with the strength you two bestowed on it,

    true in its aims, clear in its paths, unmistakable.

  7. And you two are but the two edges of its keen sword;

    when it flashes, they send every sword back notched.

  8. And before today it used to tremble, fearing

    the vicissitudes of the nights and the reviled raider.

  9. And it would call upon its many sons and lament,

    yet it found them only abject and asleep,

  10. until your two reigns came, and you two dispelled

    from the East a night brimming with calamities.

  11. And you two restored the world to it, beautiful,

    pleasing and sweet in its freshness and smiles.

  12. And you two clothed it in the robe of justice and generosity;

    so it came forth, proud of it and enjoying ease.

  13. And you two revived the Prophet's era and undertook

    what defended the ancient, sacred House.

  14. O Abbas, indeed the fertile valley hopes

    for God to let you remain the emir, vested with authority.
