وفيهن سكرى اللحظ سكرى من الصبا

وفيهن سكرى اللحظ سكرى من الصبا

فعاتب حلو اللفظ حلو الشمائلِ

فعاتب حلو اللفظ حلو الشمائلِ

And among them is one drunk in her gaze, drunk with youth;

And among them is one with a drunken gaze, drunk with youthful passion.

so reproach the sweet-spoken one, sweet in her ways.

So chide the one sweet of speech, sweet of manner.

أدارت علينا من سلاف حديثها

كؤوساً وغنتنا بصوت الخلاخل

She passed round to us, from the pure wine of her speech,

She passed around to us, from the pure wine of her conversation,

cups, and sang to us with the voice of anklets.
