  1. Drink, you two, and give drink to a youth who keeps company with the days,

    with a soul full of desires.

  2. And great souls deem it beneath the lords

    to drink from anything but large cups.

  3. In the precincts of youth, we dwell in houses

    filled with boughs and moons.

  4. And you pray at the tanburs' call to prayer,

    and we listen to the melody of the strings,

  5. among people whose imam is prostrate

    before the cup, or bowing over the reed pipe.
