and they have flown apart in scattered fragments.

  2. Nothing endures in the face of death,

except the face of the glorified Creator.

  3. If we are secure, there suddenly befalls us

an evil that strikes the loving and compassionate.

  4. So my breast is free of wrongdoing toward the

  5. And indeed, I was saddened by the visit of a

  7. So go, Umaym, but not far away.

An embrace is not possible for one in fetters.

  8. And go, Umaym; if God wills,

  12. Tell Amir, and tell his brother

that I am bound, my bonds tight.

  13. In the iron of the scales, I am watched by the

guard; a man encounters all manner of things.

  14. In doubled iron and neck-fetters,

    and spattered, threadbare garments.

  15. So ride out in the sacred month; free your brother.

Indeed, a caravan has been readied for departure.
