Never did I betray one bound by a pledge; I returned bearing his covenant.
And I betrayed no one bound by a pledge, and returned with his pledge intact.
Nor did I turn away those in desperate need when one came as a humble petitioner.
Nor did I deny the distressed man aid when he came begging.
Thus, in what I did, I incurred no reproach.
Thus I incurred no blame for what I did.
I practiced what is noble and shunned what is vile.
I practiced noble conduct and avoided evils.
