My enemies gloated—how it pleased them
And my enemies gloat; it pleased them
that I was taken from their sight in chains.
that I was hidden away from them in fetters.
Yet that road offers consolation—many have traveled it,
So this is a common path, with many upon it,
dragged there by royal force on mere suspicion.
forced into submission to the king on certain suspicions.
