A falcon rose and set both her flanks ablaze.
The herd brought home at dusk and the far-grazing herd distracted you.
They sprang forth near al-Thawiyya, bridled,
and raided the ʿIbād at dawn, grey as they were.
Behold, that is the booty—not young camels
you hope for, branded ones and old she-camels.
You hope for them, though they have already reached Qurr,
as ʿAtīb hopes for its young ones.
