I shared wine with the sons of Alqama in the monastery.
I passed them wine cooled by the north wind, when
it seemed as though musk’s fragrance filled its cup,
as we mixed it with the water of the sky.
Alqama, why have you not come to us?
Have you no desire to enjoy yourself today?
Whoever delights in life and its pleasures
should make wine a ladder to them.
