The people broke camp and left my desire unfulfilled.
And remembering them brought my longing back.
My family settled at al-Khawarnaq and al-
Hira, while they settled at Dhu Khushub.
They departed, and I follow them on a powerful she-camel,
lean, dependable, and easy in her trot.
Earnestly—when the dead were raised, he passed by her;
and she drew herself together like a cord in trousers.
On her I fulfill my need, and she carries me
to Qabus, of kingship and noble descent.
And by her, all of my body above my feet is ransom for you,
Qabus—yes, and my father too.
Through victory you gained the kingdom; the
peoples know you have never betrayed or failed.
Never have they known anyone truer than you,
braver or swifter in pursuit.
