قامَ إِلَيها رَجُلٌ فيهِ عُنُف

قامَ إِلَيها رَجُلٌ فيهِ عُنُف

لَهُ ذراعٌ ذاتُ نيرَينِ وَكَف

لَهُ ذراعٌ ذاتُ نيرَينِ وَكَف

A man with violence in him rose toward her.

He had an arm with two yokes, and a hand.

فَقَذّها بَينَ قَفاها وَالكَتِف

فَقَذّها بَينَ قَفاها وَالكَتِف

فيها كُسورٌ رَعِماتٌ وَسُدُف

فيها كُسورٌ رَعِماتٌ وَسُدُف

He struck her between the back of her neck and her shoulder.

She had fractures, ragged marks, and dark patches.

وَاِستَيقَنَت أَنَّ الصَليف مُنعَسِف

وَاِستَيقَنَت أَنَّ الصَليف مُنعَسِف

كَأَنَّها غَلثى من الرَخم تَدِف

كَأَنَّها غَلثى من الرَخم تَدِف

And she knew for certain that the side of her neck was wrenched.

As though she were a ghalthā vulture beating its wings.
