Two evil companions—I kept their company;
Two bad companions whose company I kept
they accompanied me the day they set out,
accompanied me on the day I set out.
and both said, “Set out with us.”
And they say, “Set out with us,”
I replied, “But I am drunk:
and I say, “Indeed, I am drunk.
at dawn I am bound for a brimming cup
Indeed, at dawn I drank a brimming cup
of tangy wine, its strainer dripping wet.”
of tart wine, its strainer wet.”
