1. Praise be to God, who saved me and freed me

from Ibn Jahra, who had held back the ship.

  2. Whoever sails the sea aboard the ship, crossing

to Hadawda, has sought a wretched vessel indeed.

  3. Convey to Abu Hafs, there with you, a far-traveling message—

God's servant, whether he goes to the lowlands or the uplands:

  4. Indeed, I charge against those men when they take fright

on any day, and hold my horse beneath the banner.

  5. I plunge into the battle cries, and double-woven mail covers me,

made of iron, when some of them shrink back.
